An airplane full of curiosity: The arrival

It's finally time. The journey begins. The majority of the group has never been to New York. We are all very excited and very happy. The journey to Munich airport is organized by everyone, from different directions. Meeting point is the Air France counter in Terminal 2 at 5 am. It is a bit early, some of us still had 2 hours drive. But the anticipation compensates everything.

The usual check-in procedure begins. Then we sit in the first plane on a short flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle. The on-board menu is characterized by a puristic scope.

Check out, pick up your luggage. Now with the bus across the city to Orly airport. In between two of us are already practicing in the burger dinner. Check in, passport controls, security. And finally we all sit together in the right plane and look forward to a seven and a half hour flight. It is narrow, wood class even. It is long and drags on, but we have our goal is clear before our eyes.

We have only limited success in sleeping, we are much too excited about what lies ahead of us. We treat ourselves to the airline's film programme.

And finally, we fly to New York, the endless water has an end, a beautiful coastal strip appears. And then the skyline. Excitement spreads. Passport control, picking up luggage, security.

We take two cabs and it takes two and a half hours through the city. Rush hour! The tunnel to New Jersery to our Airbnb accommodation takes forever. But we are in good spirits and are already amazed at what we see as we drive past.

It's worth the trip. A beautiful spacious accommodation with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large living-dining and kitchen area awaits us. And our supervisor as "project customer" welcomes us cordially. He arrived a few days before.

Now some of us want to know: Are the American burgers really as good and better than at home? We start our first burger dinner and are very satisfied. The rest of the group is tired from the trip and not hungry. Generally we go to bed early. We have a lot to do the next day.
