About the company

Quantcast is an American technology corporation with offices across 10 countries that focuses on digital marketing systems and artificial intelligence for customer brand development and growth. Live data from more than 100 million websites are analyzed to provide technology, information and advertising services to understand and affect the customer journeys. Quantcast is undoubtedly one of the leading technology corporation in the field of digital marketing and advertising and, therefore, is a very exciting organization for our case study in terms of working culture and HR development as well as ethical touch points in digital advertising.

What was impressive?

Quantcast New York is located near Times Square on 6th avenue. We met David Sequeira, Director of regional Field Sales, on the 5th floor on Tuesday, October 1st. As we arrived at the office, the atmosphere was very calm and quiet – not what we expected of a young tech-corporation with startup character. But we got cleared up immediately – Mondays are globally starting with trainings and employee success stories. The trainings are in various areas. There are product trainings as well as personal development like improving presentation skills through a speed-dating event. Very exciting in the corporate culture is the absence of a “top down” structure, so working spaces are flexible and free for selection, meaning board members are very close to the staff.

Overall, Quantcast deems it very important that their employees feel good and recognize that Quantcast is a great place to work. The reason why this is so important and became a USP in recruiting is that the products, and in general the market of digital advertising, is very complex and takes a long time to learn. There are lots of success stories for employees starting as young professionals and growing within the company over years.

Besides ensuring a positive working culture, there is a further point of focus. Talking about the business model and market we found out that ethnical correct advertising is also a topic in the market and a focused aim. That means to reduce so called “rubbish advertising” and to improve the relevance of ads for the consumer. This also means connecting the online and offline world – for example getting known when consumers already have purchased offline in a store and don’t want to receive further retargeting ads.

What did we learn?

We got lots of insights, especially in the working culture of Quantcast. The key finding is that there exists an unexceptional self-confidence for constant learning and improving what is very unique and worth sharing.
