About the company
HUGO BOSS is one of the world's leading companies in the premium segment of the apparel market. The company advertises with the slogan "Focus on the customer - focus on the future" - we wanted to learn more about this and visited the US branch of the globally active Group.
What was impressive?
The company is aware of its responsibility to people, the environment and society. The aspect of sustainable handling has long been part of the company philosophy, but has only been documented since 2013. In fact, it wasn’t until 2016 when this philosophy was communicated in the form of a magazine. The company is highly aware that ecological and social responsibility and the fulfilment of stakeholders' expectations are relevant for long-term success.
HUGO BOSS' vision is to jointly create values and assume responsibility for ethical corporate management. The sustainability goals that emerge from this understanding support HUGO BOSS' company-wide vision of being the most desirable fashion and lifestyle brand in the premium segment.
- Customers want high-quality products that are produced responsibly.
- HUGO BOSS not only meets these expectations, but also generates added value for the customer through innovative products.
- By using innovative technologies, HUGO BOSS ensures its future viability.
This is why quality, innovation and responsibility are the basis of our sustainability strategy.
Hugo BOSS produces worldwide. The company cooperates closely with international partners who act in accordance with the Group's sustainability strategy in order to continuously improve working conditions. In addition to social resources, the textile company is constantly working on using sustainable materials and seeking environmentally friendly alternatives. HUGO BOSS also focuses on energy-saving, sustainable building construction, continuously monitors the environmental impact of the logistics chain, and looks for alternative transport routes and means to reduce CO2 emissions.
What did we learn?
We became aware of one thing: European companies are further ahead in many respects in their core markets, not only in terms of legal regulations, but also in terms of the duration of their market presence. In America, change has only taken place in recent years; previously there was no awareness and no demand. It is exciting for companies to implement their corporate goals across national borders, especially in the area of sustainability. Many companies have been mastering this and their strategic sustainability goals for years without communicating them - according to the motto 'Do good and don't talk about it'. This is also an issue at HUGO BOSS. However, this is set to change in the future, and work is already underway on a communication strategy.
